Private House

Location: Shindisi

Project Year: 2018

Status: Built

A private house designed for a family, located on a shared plot originally purchased by two friends and later divided into equal halves. As a result of this subdivision, the street-facing edge of each plot is limited to approximately 15 meters, while the depth extends to around 40 meters.

This proportion, narrow frontage and significant depth, naturally led to an elongated building footprint. The house is therefore organized longitudinally, extending into the depth of the plot rather than across its width.

The ground floor accommodates the primary shared functions of the house, including the living room, kitchen, and dining area, organized as a continuous and open sequence of spaces. Given the elongated nature of the yard, the house incorporates a central cavity that creates a private outdoor space more directly connected to the kitchen and living areas. Both rooms are equipped with sliding doors, allowing the interior and exterior to merge into one uninterrupted space during favorable weather conditions.

The upper floor is structured around a long staircase and a linear corridor, which provides access to four bedrooms. All bedrooms receive natural light. To ensure that the corridor itself is also well-lit and not deprived of daylight, a series of skylights are introduced along its length. The same strategy is applied to the bathrooms, allowing natural light to penetrate these typically enclosed spaces.
